I feel like Pickles is blowing things out of proportion. Like… yes, the historical pirate would not be something to emulate, but it seems like a big reach to say if you let your kid dress up as a pirate, you might as well let them dress up as a Nazi, as she argued below.

Weird thing to me is that I can see the fundie-adjacent church I was brought up in taking this position, and definitely can see my sometimes-more-fundie-than-our-church mom taking it. If Pickles’ position had been “Oh I thought fundies would oppose this” then I could totally have been like, yeah probably some. But this totally went outside where I expected.
